It’s a new day ... a new dawn ... anything is possible, black girl! 🗣

I’m 5 weeks #postpartum and it feels good to be

Every day I wake and pray over the soldiers on the

Every day I wake and pray over the soldiers on the ground doing the work for our people, and I pray hard because they are my family. I pray for their safety, I pray for their heart, I pray for their mind, I pray for their strength, I pray for their family, I pray for their rest. You have no idea how much their service to us affects their everyday life. These people have families that they can’t go home to, they have children and sometimes miss birthdays, basketball games, teacher parent conferences, they have to maintain good health, they have to pay bills (activism work is expensive), they miss out on their personal life, all for justice. They fight every single day. They travel from one city to the next, they March, they educate, they rally, they do it all and I have no clue how. I know they are exhausted. I know they are running on E, but they will never let us see it and they will never stop. They are our real heroes, following behind the greats like MLK, infused with a new way of doing things. They are our modern day MLK(s). They are my family. If you are a praying person. Pray for them. Think of them often. Send your love to them. They need it. @untilfreedom #mlk #thebbmagency

Crown is one month old and I’m finally sharing h

Crown is one month old and I’m finally sharing her birth story on the blog today (click the link in the bio for the full story.) What a beautiful story it was. You see, after months of blaming myself for such a traumatic birth with my first born, I was terrified to push again. It was so bad that the anxiety of going through labor and deliver often times overshadowed the joy of welcoming a new life. I remember begging my OB for a ‘voluntary c-section’ because I was that scared, but my OB asked me to trust the process, and to trust my body. I’m so glad I did.

You see, Crown redeemed me. I had really given up on myself when it came to bringing forth life. I never shared this, but I didn’t think that I was capable of getting her here safely, alone, without medical intervention. But Crown knew otherwise. The morning of her birth was so calm and serene, much like her demeanor. Before we left for the hospital, I told myself I would leave my anxieties at home. It wouldn’t take them with me to this new birth experience. I went through 18 hours of tranquil labor, and with one push, she beautifully made her way into the world. ONE PUSH. She knew I needed that. She knew I needed a peaceful labor and delivery, and I am grateful that she gave me that. In all of her glory, after that one push, our baby girl came out with her eyes open as big and beautiful as they are in this photo, and our hearts have been beating for her ever since.

God knew what I needed, and Crown made sure that it happened. I’m forever grateful.

This sums up the last few weeks of my life, pouring my all into both of my babies. While Brave is technically a big brother, he’s still very young and needs lots of attention and affection from me as we transition to two kids, especially while I bond with baby sister simultaneously. I find that including him in the process is much better for our family. He likes to pass me sister’s diapers, he runs to her bassinet when she cries, we take family naps... we are slowly finding our groove. This process has stretched me in more ways than I can imagine. Between the diapers, tandem nursing, spit ups, and meltdowns, it blows my mind that I make it to bedtime with the house still in tact, both of their tummies full, and everyone happy and safe. I guess God really does equip us with everything we need for our children. Not gonna lie, #2Under2 is HARD, but I love a good challenge 🙃 thank you to everyone who’s checked on us as we transition. Y’all are the best virtual aunties and uncles.
