This is my husband @hdezzzy and our nephew Kingsto

This is my husband @hdezzzy and our nephew Kingston. When this picture was taken, HD and I were just dating. I knew he would be an amazing father when I saw the way he treated Kingston, like his own. He introduced Kingston to PB&J sandwiches, taught him how to do a cannon ball in the pool, and so much more. To this day Kingston still calls “Uncle HD” when he needs ANYTHING. The fact that these two beautiful black faces are in danger makes me sick to my stomach. Kingston is almost the same age as #TamirRice was when he was slain for playing with a toy gun. So don’t tell me my nephew’s innocent face isn’t in danger. What are you doing for the black people you care about who’s lives are threatened every single day?

I needed a mental break. I can’t watch the video

I needed a mental break. I can’t watch the video of #georgefloyd. I know how it ends. It’s too painful to endure. Today my son is an adorable and innocent black baby boy, but some day he will be a grown black man that fits the description of what someone may consider a threat. I fear for all of my fellow boy-moms that I carried and birthed my son with. Zion. Cinco. Wilson. Lexington. Royal. To name a few. We have to have “the talk” with our boys someday. Warning them what to do and how to respond if they encounter authorities just so they can get home safely. One day our babies WILL NOTICE that the color of their skin may come before the integrity of their heart. I remember the first time I encountered racism and prejudice —it shook me to my core. I am tired. I am angry. I am heart broken that my boy can’t grow up freely without being cautious and alert. This isn’t by chance. This isn’t an abnormal circumstance. This is a common error that happens when the wrong people are given power. These cops are INTENTIONALLY killing us. Over-policing is INTENTIONALLY traumatizing us. This officer has over 12 department complaints that resulted in death, injury and chaos to the community that he is suppose to serve. HOW IS THIS MAN STILL WEARING A BADGE? Allowing people like this officer to continue to “protect and serve” is the problem. Too much is swept under the rug. This is the new KKK. This is modern day lynching. In fact this is worse, because it is masked under the phrase, “I feel threatened.” You hate us. You despise our blackness. We never asked to be here. Your people brought us here and NOW you are threatened by our being. By our excellence. We will rise like we always do. One thing you cannot take from us is our resilience. Black people are fluid. Our unfortunate circumstances have taught us how to flow. You cannot steal our joy. You cannot dim our light. We are the center of mankind. The chosen people. We are GODLY. My friend @jenjeanpierre shared the realest ish I ever read: “stolen people cannot expect justice on stolen land.”

Recently someone asked me: how does your husband feel about you posting pics with your breast out?
My response: he most likely took the pic. I have a very supportive husband who understands the wellbeing of our child depends on my milk. Brave prefers “from the tap” so that’s what we give him.
It’s really sad that I even have to say this... but, your insecurities are not my problem. My breast were made to feed my child. What society has sexualized is not my concern. If you can be content witnessing a dog feed her puppies, surely you can be content with being around a woman nursing her child. However you feed your baby, feed them. The goal is whatever makes mama and baby most comfortable. Really, I want to know... what freaks you out so much about seeing a mama nurse in public?
