Happy New Year folks! Yes, I know we’re 11 days in to 2017, but I needed a little break to catch up on a few things and just enjoy the moment. I’m back … and so pleased to announce (if you don’t already know) … I’m engaged! HD proposed on NYE at the stroke of midnight, and I said YES!!!
Well technically he says I never answered, I just shook my yes “yes” and ridiculously cried, but I’m sure he understood my sentiments lol! We are getting MARRIED!!! My very best friend of 6 years asked me to spend the rest of my life with him! I said YES!
I’m literally still floating, and I couldn’t be happier. With my new engagement, and this new journey I’m about to embark on, I wanted to make sure I felt this way for the rest of 2017. Here are a few things I plan to do in 2017:
- Take more time out for me. I often get lost in the sauce of life, working hard, and maintaining everything … so much so that I lose sight of myself. So this year, I promise to make sure I hold myself down. That means, getting up to make sure I have a full breakfast every day, or at least 5 out of 7 days. Taking a little extra time to pamper myself. More facials, more skin treatments, more grooming, more self awareness.
- Make more memories. Ever since HD and I moved to Atlanta, we haven’t had a chance to engulf ourselves in this new city. Partly because we moved in October, which meant the next two months were family-oriented holidays. Now that we are in January, we sort of have our lives back, and we are looking forward to making our own memories together, and our own traditions.
- More water, PLEASE! If you know me, you know I hate water. I’ll take a Dr. Pepper instead … I’m addicted to sugar (sodas) … and I’m fighting against it like a person who’s trying to quit cigarettes. So as of the new year, I’ve been gradually taking myself off of sodas. My goal is to be completely done with sodas by March. Please pray for me.
- Save more cheddah. Yep, we all say this … but I’m really doing it and I’ve actually been doing it since August 2016. Every piece of money I get, a fraction of it goes to my savings. HD is doing it too. We are really enjoying watching the numbers increase, and together we’re strategizing what we plan to do with the extra cash!
Honestly, that’s it for me! I’m not big on resolutions because they hardly ever work, but I will say … I’m working on a few things that I know will better myself. So here’s to a healthy and happy new year. Mine is already off to an amazing start. I should have known, 7 is my power number!
