First Love For Green Tea

Screen Shot 2014-05-13 at 3.00.41 PMFor the past few weeks I’ve been on a lifestyle-changing kick. I’ve attempted (though I often mess up) making smarter eating choices and I’m completely stopped drinking sodas, cold turkey. I tried to ween myself off, but that simply didn’t satisfy me and made me crave it more. I had to deal with the headaches from sugar cravings and let go of them completely. Since then I have been looking for healthier options to replace my caffeine craving, and green tea filled the void.

I must say, I’m not a tea drinker, what-so-ever. I use to complain about how much it taste like grass (lol.) Like wine, tea is definitely an acquired taste your body must get use to. I’ve learned how to ‘doctor’ my tea up and now I’ve found the perfect blend of choice that is very satisfying to my soda cravings. In addition to canceling out my soda cravings, I’ve noticed the other health benefits as well. My skin feels a little brighter, I’ve shed a few pounds and I haven’t gotten sick this season (crosses fingers.) I’m usually glued to the bed because I can’t beat the weather around this time of year.

If I was as much of a tea-hater and evolved into loving tea, I know you can too. I encourage you to give it a try. I enjoy finding new japanese teas I like, preferably with a hint of mint in them. I typically don’t like lemons, so I stray away from lemon-fused teas although they are great for weight loss. I tend to choose mint, lavender, jasmine, etc. I drink a cup of tea 3 times a day sweetening it with agave nectar for hint of taste (this also eliminates the grass-like sensation.) Remember, if you’re a tea drinker, you must increase your water intake because it can be dehydrating.

A few other health benefits for green tea is it increases metabolism for weightless, develops good skincare, regulates glucose aiding with diabetes, relaxes blood vessels for heart disease, fights cancer cells, tooth decay, high blood pressure, depression, Alzheimer & Parkinson’s disease, anti-viral infections, and more.
