We live in a time where, unfortunately, people feel they can say whatever they want without even considering how it makes a person feel. Trolls and bullies are real and they have spread like wild fire in the plus size community. When I first started blogging, the horrible comments I would receive, like “You’re too fat for a crop top,” or even, “You’re unhealthy … you should go and exercise now” would really get to me and make me feel like I wasn’t accepted or enough. But it was in those moments that I channeled the things that inspired me, things like other fierce plus women and their empowering, fearless behavior. From that, I learned the truth; and the truth is, fat girls can do any they want. We CAN wear a crop top. We CAN run a marathon. We CAN steal the show. We CAN wear bold patterns, stripes, bikinis and cutouts. Most importantly we CAN be seen, because #HereIAM.
I truly appreciate and absolutely adore JCPenney for launching their first-ever private brand designed exclusively for the plus-size woman. Boutique+™ will be a game changer, because it’s for the fashion forward millennial (I am totally describing myself here, haha.) With sizes ranging from 0x-4x (5x online) and 16W-30W in both stores and online, Boutique+™ will literally cater to every plus woman’s shape and size.
This blog post is in collaboration with JCPenney, all opinions are my own.
