Not sure if anyone noticed but I went off the grid

Not sure if anyone noticed but I went off the grid for a few days, and it felt so damn good. My anxiety was high, I felt overwhelmed, and I wanted to make sure that I listened to my body when it said, “chill”. That really is one of the hardest things to do.

As an influencer, my career is built around sharing content, but like any other professional, I get burnt out.

You see the picture perfect content, the killer captions, and most think it’s a really easy job, but it’s not.

Social media is full time. It requires around the clock maintenance. There’s creating the content, editing, posting ... and let’s not forget about engaging (whew, sis I’m tired just thinking about it.) So I took a breather to recharge last week, and it felt really good.

In fact, it felt so good that it makes me want to scream “Normalize taking days for yourself” and days that don’t have to be glamorized self care days. I mean days where you just don’t have to think so hard. Days where you don’t reply to the texts and emails right away. It’s ok to take a breather.

Burn out is a big thing for creatives. How do you bounce back from it? For me, if I go off the grid for a little bit, I usually miss my work and find some inspiration to tap back in after my break. You?

Here’s a shot taken this morning. Brave loves to climb in the rocker, wrap his arms around Sissy, and rock both of them back and forth. I’m usually terrified, but Crown thinks it’s the most hilarious thing, ever! 🥰

Grateful for the sacrifice so that we may live a complexed, messy, figure-it-out-as-we-go life ... it’s a beautiful thing to know, no matter how hard life gets, we are still covered by the promises of God. By now I imagined Brave would be enjoying a toddler Sunday school class, but life took the craziest turn with this pandemic and this is his second Easter where he’s never had a full-on southern Baptist experience (I mean speeches, fellowship, tons of family, the works!)

My precious babies haven’t even been dedicated (well they sort of have, I give them back to God in my prayers every night when I watch them sleep) and it tugs at my heart. Despite Brave not having his traditional experiences with our faith. I’m confident that we are raising him right because one thing that the boy knows without a shadow of doubt, is LOVE. He feels it, he understands it, and he completely embraces it. And for that, I am grateful for the sacrifice of the lamb. Because I know that as Brave grows and experiences life, I am certain he will always revert back to what matters most ... love.

Here’s a sweet picture of my precious boy beaming with excitement about his Easter basket. He just wants to roam, chase his shadow and carry his basket.

Happy Good Friday people, I’m excited to spend this weekend with my family. What are your plans this weekend?
