This weekend I went home to Alabama for my bridal shower and I was absolutely blown away. I’m typically the planner in my circle of loved ones so to have my sister (with the help of my mom) plan me a shower had me super excited and anxious at the same time.
Things started off a little shaky –especially with my dress. I got the bright idea to have a custom gown made at the last minute. Literally 24 hrs before the shower, my childhood seamstress whipped something together to fit my bubbly personality.
In the end it worked out great … my dress was delivered to me at 9:50am just a few hours before my bridal shower and it fit perfectly! Ultimately I knew it would work out, as my seamstress has been making my dresses since I was 3 years-old. She pretty much knows my body like the back of her hand.
But my shower! It was absolutely amazing! Every detail was considered with lil’ ole me in mind. Guys, this was major. I never get parties –I’m the one who gives them. So to be honored and thought of in this way meant everything to me!
My sister included trinkets of my grandmothers so that I could feel them there with my. My mother’s mom passed away almost two years ago, and she was our baby. It really took my family through a lot to lose her. My living grandmother is in a nursing home that caters to dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. It’s been hard to adjust to both of my grandmothers being gone.
My day was quite magical to say the least –I honestly couldn’t have imagined anything more perfect! All of my bride squad dressed in my favorite color (yellow), lots of love from my family and friends, and even more support.
